Sports d00des of the Month: June

Wow, what a historical recap of basketball. Yes, the pairing of the sports d00des of the month I believe was iconic to the sport. Now they have the opportunity to win an NBA championship, Joakim Noah after losing to the Heat in 5 games said "They are pretty hollywood." but are they?

Let me give you my insight on why I love these players, When I was a kid I watched MJ and the Bulls dominate. I am close to the Chicago area, and I have been to a bulls game, but once MJ got old and the Spurs "big three" started to get good, I didn't really pay attention anymore (I was busy watching the NFL). Then something happened, LeBron James entered the sport. I loved his confidence and overall game, and I started watching the NBA again. I then started to see this guy in Miami play. Dwyane Wade.

Dwyane had just a fast and exciting play style. I was familiar with Shaq and I rooted for them in the Finals of 2006. Afterwards I said "LeBron could do this all he needs is another all star like Shaq." Year after year, I waited and waited, by the time Shaq even joined the team he was to old. LeBron's contract was expiring and then something happened......THE OLYMPICS.

I watched the redeem team. I was amazed, and watching the equivalent of unstoppable on a basketball court was just a feeling of pride (for America of course). But then after LeBron started the decision and hearing "Taking my talents to south beach." I was like, "Okay, okay, playing with Bosh and Wade oughta mean championship like Boston (when they made a big three)".

Through a season where they were hated, booed, and every mistake was highlighted. When Dwyane or Eric Spoelstra, spoke the truth it was blown up. LeBron can't close, 12 game losing streak, number one seed dropped to number two. Bulls play better defense, the Sixers aren't like the Celtics, this, that. What happened, the Heat quieted the critics. LeBron started to get hot, Dwyane overcame his bane, the Celtics. A Bandwagon started, now Miami is a favorite, and LeBron rivals MJ....

But, these guys I am big fans of them, I love Dwyane, and I love LeBron. They have been hot all of May, I mean the Heat haven't lost at home since April. LeBron can lock down any teams best player (Look out Dirk). Dwyane can go cold, but I think he'll find his shot. Pretty good stuff. I mean they are the best duo (in my opinion) in NBA history.

Your d00des of the month play tonight (May 31, granted it isn't June yet) at 9 p.m. on ABC. Game 1 of the Finals, its going to be good!

Cubs vs Red Sox

Tomorrow is JUDGEMENT DAY, fantastic. Wanna know the signs to why? I'll tell ya why!

BECAUSE THE CHICAGO CUBS PLAY IN BOSTON!
The cubs haven't played there since 1918!
That was 10 years past the beginning of the "curse". But, as the Sports d00de I have no belief in curses, raptures, or any mumbo jumbo. On that note, it's time to preview this series.

First off "Da Sox", the ones of red orientation, big hopes in the beginning of the season. They out bought the Yankees for bats! They got Adrian Gonzales and Carl Crawford (two big hitters for those who don't know). BUT, they forgot pitching wins championships (The Philadelphia Phillies
took all the pitching though) and they started off very slow, a nice starting record of 0-6. BUT, as of late they are charging because the rivals in New York are slumping and disagreeing, while in Bean Town they are cheering and blooming. Carl Crawford is on fire, the pitching is improving, AND now they are the American League team playing against the "weaker" National League.

On the other side, my loveable losers, the Chicago Cubs. Scratch the loser part, they are getting hot in the right time too. Incosistencies give them a below .500 record of 19-23, BUT (and a big but at that) they are getting hits from  all over in their line-up. The cubs took a gamble that I liked, they risked moving some pieces (like Derek Lee and Ryan Theriot) to gain talent from the minors (a page out of the Red Sox's book). For that they got hitters that make contact on lots of things, to compliment their home run hitters. They also signed a new First Basemen, Carlos Pena, who was a lot like the Red Sox again in the beginning of the season....he slumped major, but now he is hitting like a man possessed. Plus, he used to be a Tampa Bay Ray who were the bane of Red Sox in the postseason in the past couple of years. That and Pena has a big bat against them tonight in the first game of the series, he has 10 hits in 34 at bats with 5 homers and 12 RBI's off of the Sox's "flamethrower" Jon Lester.

Anyways there is lots of history between these two clubs. To each it's own. I can't wait to see how all the old timey feel is brought out to this cool inter-league play match up. The cubs will draw their faithful (hopefully) and the Red Sox nation will be ever so prevalent.

P.S.
Go Cubs!
Keep it real d00des and d00dets!

Sports d00de of the Month: May Nominees

Ok so, you guys voted for Ovechkin....let's face it, he melted second round as usual. So here are your new nominees for Sports d00de of the Month: May!

Here we go:

Andre Either: Baseball's Andre "The Giant", had a monster hitting streak of 29 games, it just recently got snapped, but he came right back with a big homer for Mother's day!

He could have a monster May ahead of him, and is a perfect candidate for d00de of the month.

Pavel Datsyuk: I was blinded by the sheen of Ovechkin, but thanks to lasik's eye surgery (the operation this hockey great promotes), I can now see....that MY RED WINGS might come from three down in their series!

Datsyuk is just killing this post season, he takes the shots on goal the Red Wings need shots on goal, he steals the puck when they need it, he passes to all his teammates, and is in on almost all of their plays...you get the picture.

LeBron James & Dwayne Wade: That's right they can share the spotlight, and they are winning in the playoffs. With Rondo of the Celtics now hurt, no Kendrik Perkins for the Celtics. I'd have to say The dynamic duo should have a happy month of may

King and Flash have been superb for a bulk of the Heat's offense and defense. Though Bosh is a part of Miami Thrice, the duo is sick. Sports d00des of the Month?....of May, maybe?

Vote as you please. d00de of the month will be determined after the poll closes. Vote NOW!

NFL Draft RECAP: Winners

Hello Hello, Over the past couple of days we had a draft for big boy football. It was a very weird draft too. The comish was "boo'd", the Panthers kept number one, and the Patriots were defeated for the future. Let's go dig around in this draft and find the WINNERS....and the losers. But, for now in this post, THE WINNERS.

WINNERS:

The Detroit Lions- Man 'o' Man these guys just keep using the draft right. Even though they have a lot of high picks they are making use of the high picks in the draft. The Lions have a that kind of Houston Texan feel to them, young, talented, and one more right piece away from playoffs and success. They may have turned that corner this weekend though, with their pick of NICK FAIRLEY. They basically have laid out the fact that they want to play the style of NFC North football team's past, hard, brutal, and quarterback sch'morterback. Though know this they have a good QB too, Matt Stafford is gonna break out because the Lions GAVE HIM A NEW WEAPON. Calvin Johnson hands down is a freak of nature, but having Boise State's Titus Young was brilliant. With him you get speed and one of the most important receiving stat in the game (I believe) YAC (Yards After Catch). Titus also is a double benefit of Wide Receiver/ Return Man. This is why Mel Kiper Jr. gave the Lions a draft grade of an A-!

The Cincinnati Bengals- How can they be winners with all their drama? Carson Palmer's "I'm not a Bengal anymore.", T.O., Ochocinco's MLS aspirations. Well how about with their first round draft choice a replacement for their WR The Best available in this draft A.J. Green out of Alabama (a good choice considering they already have another replacement for the "dynamic duo" Jordan Shipley). On top of that they also added in the second round QB out of TCU Andy Dalton, who I thought was going to be the future for the Colts (Peyton Manning's Prodigy Andrew Dalton I mean it sounded so right...). The Bengals just said to heck with it and overhauled I mean they got O-Linemen, Defensive Linemen, Wide Receivers, they plan on young and competitive, which is smart because Steelers are aging, Ravens are aging and in the future your competition will be the Browns...(scary enough). The Bengals are considered to be the overall Draft winners, I'd disagree, but they did a great job on assessing needs and wants.

The Atlanta Falcons-Some people would say huh? The reason being is that they traded a lot of picks to get their first round draft pick, they moved up to puck Julio Jones the second best WR from the Alabama Crimson Tide. In Atlanta's eyes he was the best because he fit a need, they have one of the best WR's in Roddy White, who is a down field threat and teams have to double team him. They also have Tony Gonzalez who is old, but still great. With those two covered all the time it leaves all the pressure on a guy who can't live up to it....add Julio and you are a step closer to a Super Bowl. The Falcons view it just they way I do, they are a couple pieces away from winning it. Matt Ryan is the future, Julio Jones is their missing piece possibly.
The Falcons are also not out of the running for next years draft, I'm pretty sure they could trade some players or money for draft picks. Some people think they need a pass rusher to go opposite of Abraham....maybe....

The Tampa Bay Bucs- Well, well, well, they actually didn't really have a good early draft, but the Bucs along with the rest of the NFC South, had a great draft. Clayborn and Bowers will probably be your new Freeney/Mathis. They already have a great new revamped Offense, now they have some pass rushers to go with their great PASS Defense....folks that means the Buccaneers have a great looking Young Defense....I smell Lions-Bucs NFC Championship showdowns.
The Crazy thing is that The Bucs could also do what they did last year, and take undrafted players and make their organization look smart...er. I didn't like LeGarret Blount...until he made my Fantasy team, now he's aight. But, really their concerns were defense and they covered them perfectly. Da'Quan Bowers was worth the risk, HIS KNEE WILL BE FINE, his motivation will be Inhuman, because he was told by his father, ON HIS DEATH BED, "You can do better son, you have the talent, and you can be great." The knee injury will be nothing, he'll play through pain for his dad, and the Bucs are going to get a SACK MACHINE! Remember this, Da'Quan Bowers picked 2nd round (51st pick overall), Legendary Football player...I'm buying it.

So that's all for the winners forgive me for not covering the losers.....yet....(Patriots....). But, I'll get to it (I never miss the chance to make fun of the Pats!). For now EVERYONE GO WATCH THE HEAT CELTICS!

Sports d00de, out.
