NFL Draft RECAP: Winners

Hello Hello, Over the past couple of days we had a draft for big boy football. It was a very weird draft too. The comish was "boo'd", the Panthers kept number one, and the Patriots were defeated for the future. Let's go dig around in this draft and find the WINNERS....and the losers. But, for now in this post, THE WINNERS.

WINNERS:

The Detroit Lions- Man 'o' Man these guys just keep using the draft right. Even though they have a lot of high picks they are making use of the high picks in the draft. The Lions have a that kind of Houston Texan feel to them, young, talented, and one more right piece away from playoffs and success. They may have turned that corner this weekend though, with their pick of NICK FAIRLEY. They basically have laid out the fact that they want to play the style of NFC North football team's past, hard, brutal, and quarterback sch'morterback. Though know this they have a good QB too, Matt Stafford is gonna break out because the Lions GAVE HIM A NEW WEAPON. Calvin Johnson hands down is a freak of nature, but having Boise State's Titus Young was brilliant. With him you get speed and one of the most important receiving stat in the game (I believe) YAC (Yards After Catch). Titus also is a double benefit of Wide Receiver/ Return Man. This is why Mel Kiper Jr. gave the Lions a draft grade of an A-!

The Cincinnati Bengals- How can they be winners with all their drama? Carson Palmer's "I'm not a Bengal anymore.", T.O., Ochocinco's MLS aspirations. Well how about with their first round draft choice a replacement for their WR The Best available in this draft A.J. Green out of Alabama (a good choice considering they already have another replacement for the "dynamic duo" Jordan Shipley). On top of that they also added in the second round QB out of TCU Andy Dalton, who I thought was going to be the future for the Colts (Peyton Manning's Prodigy Andrew Dalton I mean it sounded so right...). The Bengals just said to heck with it and overhauled I mean they got O-Linemen, Defensive Linemen, Wide Receivers, they plan on young and competitive, which is smart because Steelers are aging, Ravens are aging and in the future your competition will be the Browns...(scary enough). The Bengals are considered to be the overall Draft winners, I'd disagree, but they did a great job on assessing needs and wants.

The Atlanta Falcons-Some people would say huh? The reason being is that they traded a lot of picks to get their first round draft pick, they moved up to puck Julio Jones the second best WR from the Alabama Crimson Tide. In Atlanta's eyes he was the best because he fit a need, they have one of the best WR's in Roddy White, who is a down field threat and teams have to double team him. They also have Tony Gonzalez who is old, but still great. With those two covered all the time it leaves all the pressure on a guy who can't live up to it....add Julio and you are a step closer to a Super Bowl. The Falcons view it just they way I do, they are a couple pieces away from winning it. Matt Ryan is the future, Julio Jones is their missing piece possibly.
The Falcons are also not out of the running for next years draft, I'm pretty sure they could trade some players or money for draft picks. Some people think they need a pass rusher to go opposite of Abraham....maybe....

The Tampa Bay Bucs- Well, well, well, they actually didn't really have a good early draft, but the Bucs along with the rest of the NFC South, had a great draft. Clayborn and Bowers will probably be your new Freeney/Mathis. They already have a great new revamped Offense, now they have some pass rushers to go with their great PASS Defense....folks that means the Buccaneers have a great looking Young Defense....I smell Lions-Bucs NFC Championship showdowns.
The Crazy thing is that The Bucs could also do what they did last year, and take undrafted players and make their organization look smart...er. I didn't like LeGarret Blount...until he made my Fantasy team, now he's aight. But, really their concerns were defense and they covered them perfectly. Da'Quan Bowers was worth the risk, HIS KNEE WILL BE FINE, his motivation will be Inhuman, because he was told by his father, ON HIS DEATH BED, "You can do better son, you have the talent, and you can be great." The knee injury will be nothing, he'll play through pain for his dad, and the Bucs are going to get a SACK MACHINE! Remember this, Da'Quan Bowers picked 2nd round (51st pick overall), Legendary Football player...I'm buying it.

So that's all for the winners forgive me for not covering the losers.....yet....(Patriots....). But, I'll get to it (I never miss the chance to make fun of the Pats!). For now EVERYONE GO WATCH THE HEAT CELTICS!

NHL Fan lessons

People take some notes

I mean it's always sunny in Canada (and Philadelphia I guess) these are two great fans for the Vancouver Canuks, Canuks have the overall number 1 seed in the Western Conference. I don't like the Canuks as I am a Red Wings/Blackhawks fan, but these guys are awesome! Maybe Detroit should invest in some red men

I'd do it, just need those penalty box season tickets........Go Wings, Buck the Canuks.

d00de of the Month : April

So a little late, but just in time for the NHL Playoffs....

Good job you guys voted, you get your d00de of the Month.

Suave, dark, edgy. Characteristics of a bachelor, the life. Alex Ovechkin is the d00de of the Month for April! He can score from anywhere and is NHL's bad boy. How can you not love this guy? I mean he isn't afraid to say "Sidney Crosby who?" and he also has the best team in the Eastern Conference of the NHL.

Capitals of Washington had to have cracked the same snaggle toothed smile as Ovi does when they got him too. He is just amazing to watch I mean...

Granted that isn't today's Ovechkin, and it isn't from this year.....and he is playing against the Coyotes (Hey come on now they made some noise last year, plus they have a guy named Shane on their team....) But, he can score on a nightly basis, and he can also do a lot of on the spot facial reconstruction i.e.
What a Winter Classic
So ya, Alexander the Great is on his quest for Lord Stanley's Cup. Watch it on Versus Wednesday April 13th....tomorrow, 7:30 p.m. BE THERE or face utter embarrassment from fellow hockey enthusiasts. The action can go longer I mean it's playoffs seven game series. Their playing the "Better late than never" New York Rangers, a team who I find interesting because it almost always seems they make the playoffs near the end of the season in the east.

Enjoy it Alex Ovechkin April is your month, you the d00de.

Next d00de of the Month

So, I need to get this boulder moving and activate the community. Basically I think I should toss nominees out there, and let you guys vote on them. I am going to take the highest voted d00de and put him up as the d00de of the month.

1.) Jimmer

Hey after watching his first round go good....maybe a fire can start.

2.) Kemba

Pending on Jimmer's success your vote may go for him

3.) Alex Ovechkin

The Caps being led by their cap are of coarse the hottest team in March.

4.) Tim Lincecum

Hottest Pitcher in Spring Training, and ready for another Cy Young....even in the same league as Doc Holliday :O.

5.) Tony Stewart

AND for my NASCAR fans, Tony he's gonna win a race, and why not in March!

So vote for your favorite, then I will post an article and updates on him post his performance in March! The voter will be in the widget column.

P.S.
Blake Griffin, Sports d00de's: d00de of the Month, is a yearly competition. Maybe next year :(

Bracketology d00de

It's time for your minds to go MAD, cause it's March!

That's right grab a bracket, ten friends, and put a dollar in a pool! BUT instead of just filling the bracket out with a "....Higher seed always beats the lower seed...." mentality, let the Sports d00de guide you.

So Lets Start in the Eastern Bracket.

The East

Alright here is how I filled out the East, Honestly all you have to know is The Ohio State will have to face UNC, but for the sake of brackets I believe George Mason will advance to face and lose to OSU, Pending on who qualifies for 12th seed in the East makes a difference if it is Clemson, they may make some ruckus but ultimately lose to Kentucky who will then lose to OSU also. If the 12th seed is UAB, they may make it to the point Kentucky does, but meet the same demise.
I would next say that Marquette beats Xavier but loses to the Cuse Orange, while Washington beats out Georgia, and UNC beats LIU. Once Washington loses to UNC, so will Syracuse. and it will come down to the showdown of UNC vs. OSU.....Give the Freshman Jared Sullinger his credit and let David Lighty show some skills at the guard, moving on.

The Southwest

Ok here we go quick breakdown of the Southwest. Kansas your number one seed will make it all the way through, their twin bro duo of Marcus and Markieff Morris are just to good and they spread the floor well. They'll play the Illini of Illinois and the Louisville Cardinals to finally face the Fighting Irish of South Bend, Notre Dame....aside from Kansas path, pick Georgetown over whoever wins between USC/VCU. Pick Purdue to beat Saint Peter's and Georgetown, and pick Texas A & M to lose to Notre Dame. But, like I said Kansas will win the division. (Don't be surprised if Ben Hansbrough (Notre Dame Shoot Guard)....bro of Tyler from UNC's Champ team makes me look stupid and wins the Southwest.)).

The Southeast

WOW the Southeast has almost had like seven different hues of red luckily I lowered it to three. This is the first division that I chose that doesn't have a number one seed advancing O_O. That's right I have Pitt winning against the people who are lucky to say "I'm dancin, I'm DANCIN!", but I think Butler has another Cinderella run in them. I picked Utah State over Kansas State because I think KSU has some identity crisis. Utah State will lose to Wisconsin who will also lose their hope to Butler. You might as well call the Southeast the Cinderella bracket because they also have St. Johns (THE GIANT SLAYERS) I have them beating the Zags, but losing to the Dark horse of the Tourney....Jimmer....I mean BYU, no sex, no booze, no Davies, no problem. MSU will beat Florida to face Jimmer and they will lose to him, Jimmer will jam his foot into the glass slipper and beat the Bulldogs of Butler also....Jimmer is on a quest to take the Southeast.

And Finally

The West

Here we go the Final Bracket, this one is a good one. Duke will beat Hampton. Michigan I believe has the defense to beat Scotty Hops and the Vols. Wolverines will lose to Duke though. Arizonia has good guard play and could beat Memphis to have to take on Texas who will beat Oakland. I think Zonia will lose to Texas though who (catch the trend readers) will lose to Duke.
On the other side of the West, Cinci will beat Mizz. UConn will beat whoever. and UConn will beat the Bearcats (aka Cincinnati). Temple will beat Penn State and also will beat SDSU, and Temple will lose to UCONN.....
This is where things get messy people. Uconn has runner up to Jimmer in player of the year. Kemba Walker. See Kemba dribble, see Kemba drive, see Kemba Score seems to be the formula. Duke has a great team (as always) and are the fending champs. Your pick here that's right your guys call......

j/k j/k....Kemba will beat DUKE OMG! That's right if you're hot you are hot. So there you go. Crazy the Final four is OSU vs Uconn, and Kansas vs BYU. I'll take Uconn while they're still on fire to beat THE Ohio State, and though I hate to say it. Kansas over BYU (poor Jimmer). UConn to win it all. The Big East is just that good a conference. Good luck to all and enjoy THE MARCH MADNESS OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

College Quarterback Trick vids???

So ya, this is UConn's Johnny McEntee's trick shot video. He is a quarterback and  people have praised and criticized him for doing this video. They are saying either "WOW, WHAT A TALENTED GUY!" or "HE'S NOT STARTING CAUSE HE'S FOOLING AROUND!"

I think he is just an athlete diversifying his quarterback drills in the offseason. People need to get over the fact that its college sports. Kids have fun, and I would put this guy as a kid next to let's say....Peyton Manning. But, his talent is there I mean he hits with high accuracy, and his basketball court shots are superb.

I like these vids, and other college quarterbacks are doing them, but the trend setter was Johnny Mac.
If you're curious check out Alex Tanney, just youtube him.....I thought there was one from Alabama's quarterback, but I can't seem to find it. ANYWAYS, get ready for Bracketology sooner or later.
