Super Bowl preview

Vlog of post game analysis will be posted sometime around Monday.

In the meatime lets look at the two teams:

THE PACKERS

The Packers, you know what you are getting offensively, Aaron Rodgers gives you an amazing pass attack, and they somehow find a rookie in the backfield to cover for their pro-bowl caliber running back Ryan Grant in Starks.
Defensively, from their injuries you would have supposed they wouldn't even be in the playoffs, but they set their tone in week one with the win they had over Philly by knocking out their replacement for McNabb, Kevin Kolb. That's right the whole reason Vick even got to start was because of the Packers (creepy).

The Pack also has an ace up their sleeve. They tend to go off like a bomb, when they don't play in Lambeau and indoors or somewhere sunny (Hmmm I wonder if it's because they have a quaterback from California???). Where is the proof here, well Preseason versus my Colts the final score was 59-24 (granted it's preseason but sheesh), then there is week 11 versus inter-division rival Minnesota Vikings at Minnesota the final there was 31-3, and then there is the destruction of the Number 1 overall NFC seed Atlanta Falcons at Atlanta 48-21. Scary, "hey isn't the Super Bowl in Dallas, where they have a dome?" Yup.....

THE STEELERS

The Steelers, well well, here they are again. It almost seems this franchise never knows what it feels to rebuild. Seriously they have a Formula.

Run Ball    +    Solid Defense    =    WIN!

I mean they just do what they do and they do it good. The only thing they have to worry about now is overconfidence. That's right they act like they have done this a billion times, because they have a quarterback/leader that in his first Super Bowl did meh, and in his second he didn't exactly face a top tier D he could have a problem trying to do his out of pocket stuff if Clay Mathews is a little faster than him, and let's face it beer makes you fatter, Ben had a few with his night out on Dallas, the saying is "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." you think Clay doesn't have that in mind....please.

So, offensively the Steelers will go bread and butter I think (this game actually may be decided by the better run game.). Ben might get some of his signature scrambles, but expect mostly play action to Mike Wallace or Hines Ward.
Defensively, you're gonna get some confusing shifts ultimately making Aaron look around and either getting sacked or dumping it. Their pass coverage is just way above par with Polamalu, and with Harrison on the edge, eesh, could be a tough day. Though as I said Green Bay is a different beast on turf, with a roof above them.

MY PREDICTION

So, who do I pick to win? Well I am going Packers, I got this New York Giants toppling the "Unbeatable*" Patriots of 2008. You know even thought the Packers are favored I feel they have to beat the seasoned vets of the Steelers and I feel they can, that just gives them the edge.

Packers 31 - Steelers 21
Packers win Super Bowl XLV, Aaron Rodgers MVP.

Now, if you Packers fans think you are comfortable with my word......Be wary I had my precious Colts facing the Saints in a rematch.....a man can dream.

  1. Nice Prediction on the score... I'm glad the NFC North won the super bowl. Not glad the Packers won it though
