Bracketology d00de

It's time for your minds to go MAD, cause it's March!

That's right grab a bracket, ten friends, and put a dollar in a pool! BUT instead of just filling the bracket out with a "....Higher seed always beats the lower seed...." mentality, let the Sports d00de guide you.

So Lets Start in the Eastern Bracket.


The East

 

Alright here is how I filled out the East, Honestly all you have to know is The Ohio State will have to face UNC, but for the sake of brackets I believe George Mason will advance to face and lose to OSU, Pending on who qualifies for 12th seed in the East makes a difference if it is Clemson, they may make some ruckus but ultimately lose to Kentucky who will then lose to OSU also. If the 12th seed is UAB, they may make it to the point Kentucky does, but meet the same demise.

I would next say that Marquette beats Xavier but loses to the Cuse Orange, while Washington beats out Georgia, and UNC beats LIU. Once Washington loses to UNC, so will Syracuse. and it will come down to the showdown of UNC vs. OSU.....Give the Freshman Jared Sullinger his credit and let David Lighty show some skills at the guard, moving on.

The Southwest

 

Ok here we go quick breakdown of the Southwest. Kansas your number one seed will make it all the way through, their twin bro duo of Marcus and Markieff Morris are just to good and they spread the floor well. They'll play the Illini of Illinois and the Louisville Cardinals to finally face the Fighting Irish of South Bend, Notre Dame....aside from Kansas path, pick Georgetown over whoever wins between USC/VCU. Pick Purdue to beat Saint Peter's and Georgetown, and pick Texas A & M to lose to Notre Dame. But, like I said Kansas will win the division. (Don't be surprised if Ben Hansbrough (Notre Dame Shoot Guard)....bro of Tyler from UNC's Champ team makes me look stupid and wins the Southwest.)).

The Southeast

WOW the Southeast has almost had like seven different hues of red luckily I lowered it to three. This is the first division that I chose that doesn't have a number one seed advancing O_O. That's right I have Pitt winning against the people who are lucky to say "I'm dancin, I'm DANCIN!", but I think Butler has another Cinderella run in them. I picked Utah State over Kansas State because I think KSU has some identity crisis. Utah State will lose to Wisconsin who will also lose their hope to Butler. You might as well call the Southeast the Cinderella bracket because they also have St. Johns (THE GIANT SLAYERS) I have them beating the Zags, but losing to the Dark horse of the Tourney....Jimmer....I mean BYU, no sex, no booze, no Davies, no problem. MSU will beat Florida to face Jimmer and they will lose to him, Jimmer will jam his foot into the glass slipper and beat the Bulldogs of Butler also....Jimmer is on a quest to take the Southeast.

And Finally

The West

Here we go the Final Bracket, this one is a good one. Duke will beat Hampton. Michigan I believe has the defense to beat Scotty Hops and the Vols. Wolverines will lose to Duke though. Arizonia has good guard play and could beat Memphis to have to take on Texas who will beat Oakland. I think Zonia will lose to Texas though who (catch the trend readers) will lose to Duke.
On the other side of the West, Cinci will beat Mizz. UConn will beat whoever. and UConn will beat the Bearcats (aka Cincinnati). Temple will beat Penn State and also will beat SDSU, and Temple will lose to UCONN.....
This is where things get messy people. Uconn has runner up to Jimmer in player of the year. Kemba Walker. See Kemba dribble, see Kemba drive, see Kemba Score seems to be the formula. Duke has a great team (as always) and are the fending champs. Your pick here that's right your guys call......

j/k j/k....Kemba will beat DUKE OMG! That's right if you're hot you are hot. So there you go. Crazy the Final four is OSU vs Uconn, and Kansas vs BYU. I'll take Uconn while they're still on fire to beat THE Ohio State, and though I hate to say it. Kansas over BYU (poor Jimmer). UConn to win it all. The Big East is just that good a conference. College Quarterback Trick vids???

 So ya, this is UConn's Johnny McEntee's trick shot video. He is a quarterback and  people have praised and criticized him for doing this video. They are saying either "WOW, WHAT A TALENTED GUY!" or "HE'S NOT STARTING CAUSE HE'S FOOLING AROUND!"

I think he is just an athlete diversifying his quarterback drills in the offseason. People need to get over the fact that its college sports. Kids have fun, and I would put this guy as a kid next to let's say....Peyton Manning. But, his talent is there I mean he hits with high accuracy, and his basketball court shots are superb.

I like these vids, and other college quarterbacks are doing them, but the trend setter was Johnny Mac.

NBA Trades, NFL negotiations

So, ya. In case you missed the "Melo-drama" Carmelo Anthony got his wish and went to the Knickerbockers of New York City. Afterwords the hardcore NBA fan was outraged by the fact that the player got his way. Personally it all seems to have to worked out, The Nets didn't get Melo, instead they traded their pieces to the Jazz and got arguably the best Point Guard in the league (Deron Williams). Melo is scoring bunches in NYC. The Nuggets are winning without Melo. AND the rest of the league dropped trade after trade, I mean come on the Cav's got B-Diddy (Baron Davis a fun point guard ), the Clips got Mo Money (Mo Williams another point guard), and the Trail Blazers of Portland got Gerald Wallace a nice forward.

Then there was a trade that was getting a bunch of flak. The Boston Celtics traded their starting center Kendrik Perkins and their little shooting guard Nate Robinson to the Oklahoma City Thunder (My pick for the West side to represent in the NBA finals) in turn for some Russian guy and their small forward Jeff Green. Celtic fans are all "You broke up the starting five!" and "What were they thinking??!!". Come on, they are thinking "Hey....we make it to the finals with the Big Three We Brought In For The Fans...uhm uhm Ray Allen Kevin Garnett  uhm uhm (no coughs for Paul he was there already).... You don't hear the Thunder complaining I mean they got a legit center, and right now look poised to win the west. AND Kendrik is not exactly happy to leave the City of Boston...He misses his "family" The Celtics (little back story he is a player out of high school, this is why it is important to go to collage at least for one year to grow up.) and he might sand bag in OKC just to get out of there.

This is where fans should be mad, when the player isn't happy to play. LeBron wanted out of Cleveland to win, but it doesn't mean he doesn't have fun. Melo is having fun in his home state scoring points and being on a playoff team (he was on one with the Nuggets too, but now he is a Knick.) Not to mention, but as one of my idols Collin Cowherd has stated the stars are aligning in the NBA, the right teams (New York the biggest city in the United States, Boston "New York's Rival", Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Dallas) are doing good in the NBA. That means people that can pay large amounts of money, found in these said cities, can pay for a ticket and watch the games, so the NBA can pay the players. That means that the cameras roll for us Joe Schmo's to watch for free (other than cable bills).

Anyways people are tired of the "business aspect of the game". To bad it is a big business, I mean it's kind of a great lesson for the children who are the future of the NBA (Managing wise....more my age I guess). If you don't want the fans to know...pay the players, "but but Sports d00de the players are greedy, and are making money for playing a game!" Ok well, you find a way to go to collage and get a degree, or at least find a way to make money off of something you love to do. The league itself tends to weed out those who are not privileged to play professional sports (karma at it's best am I right Stephon Starbury (former Knick)), I mean it does take a different person to play in the NBA. If you asked me to visit sick kids after working out for hours on end, and learning how to run a play and memorize another, then go home and handle my private life.....I'd want a lot of money too.

Which takes us to our next point....THE NFL (omg does it ever have an offseason??). Players want to be like the NBA, only they want to be paid and have a shorter season (none of this 18 game stuff). I don't really blame them, the players in the NFL are human at heart, but their bodies are other worldly, I'd pay them. But, Roger Goodell is a very smart man, he wants more football (cause lets face it, in the world of sports right now NFL rules), he wants happy players, and he wants a safer game. So he is going into a dispute with the NFL players union, is willing to take a dollar for his pay in order to give more money back to the player, and using the latest in technology to protect his players (i.e. Aaron Rodger's helmet post his concussion).

I think what the world needs now is just a big, sigh. Then everybody hugs it out and we go on to watch sports. I mean the reason we watch sports is because it is entertaining, while also fascinating to try and relate to the players. We can feel all the emotions from sports, but in times like today we don't want to feel worried or saddened by the games we love (then again....it is a business). The only thing that can come out of the NFL dispute is a bit of a hold out to slap the wrists of players (owners want players to follow their rules and priorities), but the sports world is a trendy world. Who knows maybe in three years the USA will fall in love with hockey....they've done their time with their labor strike. Only time can tell. Until then go watch your local sports I guess? Winter Purgatory

So, it's mid February. You're sitting at home and trying to cure your Super Bowl hangover. Well let the Sports d00de help you.

Sports d00de's Midwinter Events

1.) NBA All-Star weekend....This Friday through Sunday.        - I have mentioned this with the d00de of the Month: Blake Griffin. The dunk contest is the highlight of Saturday, but it is the finale of the three point challenge/horse/skill challenge starting at 8, and you have the big game with all the stars on Sunday.

2.) Daytona 500
     - This is a new interest for me I sort of payed attention to NASCAR once Sprint cup starts, but I never followed it through most of the season. I find it interesting, but it is a sport you have to develop a taste for. This year has a new breath of air for NASCAR though, Daytona is repaved and there is a new points system that makes it easier for the fans to keep track. Anyways the big race is on Sunday at 1 o'clock.

3.)NBC's game of the week- This Sunday you can catch two teams I like to watch on the NHL, The Detroit Red Wings (My favorite team since I was like....5) vs the Minnesota Wild (One of my friends teams). Always good to have a healthy rivalry between friends. The other game that probably won't be shown in my area, but the Capitals vs Buffalo. I like to see Alexander Ovechkin as much as possible. All games at 12:30.

4.)MLB Preseason- Once stuff starts getting sunny and we're back to regular life, then there is SPRING TRAINING. MLB's first preseason game is on February 24th the teams are Florida State at Philadelphia at 1:05 PM EST. Not like anyone gets that station, but you can get some fantasy baseball information.




Well there you go, get through these next couple of weeks and bam! It's March. Griffin for Dunk Contest basically won it. Jr for the checkered flag. Go Wings. Cub's......please this year.
